Workshop on Quality, Value, and Age of Information for Tactical Networks
Workshop Description: Military communications and networking leverage information from a wide range of sources to support a wide range of applications. The performance of these applications depends in part on the properties of the information used to make these decisions, including but not limited to the recency of the information, the relative applicability of the information to the application, and the utility of the information to benefit the application. Fundamental understanding of these quantities will enable full stack cross-layer network optimization to handle the big data management problem in constrained military communication environments. These ideas have been studied in the research community through the interrelated concepts of Value of Information (VoI), Age of Information (AoI), and Quality of Information (QoI). These findings are used to understand and control these networked systems particularly in resource-challenged environments.
